Campus Cable TV Outage Set for Thursday

Cable television service to campus buildings will be interrupted for much of the day Thursday as work crews move the existing fiber optic cables to accommodate the construction of the new Student Union. The outage will start at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, and will last a minimum of eight hours.

Campus Prepares for Eagles Concert November 13

The University of Tennessee is welcoming fans of the legendary rock group the Eagles, who will perform at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, in Thompson-Boling Arena. The sold-out concert will bring more than 16,000 guests to campus, affecting traffic and parking.

Campus to Reopen West Entrance to University Center, Close Section of Phillip Fulmer Way

The west-side entrance to the University Center at Smokey’s Cafeteria will reopen on Monday, November 4, as part of the ongoing Student Union construction project. The entrance was closed earlier this year during the demolition of Temple Court and Aconda Court. To encourage students and employees to use the west-side entrance, ARAMARK will be at the door on Monday giving out coupons and discounts for diners.

Demolition of Stokely Athletics Center, Gibbs Hall Set for 2014

The university is moving forward with plans to demolish Stokely Athletics Center and Gibbs Hall to make way for a new parking garage, residence hall and dining facility, and the expansion of the football practice fields. The State Building Commission approved demolition plans today for Stokely and Gibbs so that work can begin early next year. The commission will consider project budgets and proposed building locations at its October meeting. The goal is to have Stokely and Gibbs removed by summer 2014

Haslam Music Center and Tickle Engineering Building Open for Fall Classes

UT students return to campus this week to the opening of two new academic facilities—the John D. Tickle Engineering Building and the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center. It’s been sixty-four years since two all-new academic facilities greeted students for a new school year.

Repairs Continue to Andy Holt Tower

Scaffolding is in place and work is underway to repair the exterior of Andy Holt Tower. The work is expected to be complete by late spring 2014.

Andy Holt Avenue to Close This Afternoon, Reopen This Weekend

A section of the western end of Andy Holt Avenue between Volunteer Boulevard and UT Drive will close this afternoon and will remain closed for the remainder of the week. Workers are filling in and repairing a sinkhole adjacent to Staff Lot 25 north of the Allan Jones Collegiate Aquatic Center.
