UT College of Law is thirty-fourth on the National Law Journal‘s most recent “Go-To Law Schools” list, which ranks the top fifty law schools by the percentage of 2013 graduates who landed jobs at the country’s largest law firms.

Many in the campus community are mourning the loss of Sally Carter, a supervisor of the College of Law Library, who died early Monday in an accident in the White Avenue Parking Garage. Carter began working at UT in 1979. She started at Hodges Library and transferred to the Law Library in 1981. Reba Best,

Two UT employees have made the Greater Knoxville Business Journal’s “Forty under Forty” list of young community leaders. They are Ashley Blamey, director of the Safety, Environment and Education Center, and Karla McKanders, associate professor of law.
The College of Law’s Homer A. Jones Jr. Wills Clinic has been providing estate-planning services to East Tennesseans of modest means since 2009. Under supervision, students prepare wills, powers of attorney, living wills, and other estate planning documents free of charge for clients, including nonexempt university staff, who meet certain financial and other guidelines.
US Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, a 1968 graduate of UT’s College of Law, will be on campus October 4 to talk about his eighteen years on Capitol Hill. Chambliss will speak at noon in the Baker Donelson Classroom (Room 132) of the College of Law.

The UT College of Law is the eighth most efficient law school in the nation, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report. The new ranking compares its list of U.S. News “Best Law Schools 2014” in per student expenditures, such as faculty and staff salaries, library services, and financial aid.
The UT College of Law has added fourteen members to its Alumni Council. The Alumni Council connects students with professionals, maintains a mutually beneficial relationship between the College of Law community and its alumni, and advances loyalty and financial support for the College of Law’s annual giving program.
