Four UT professors are serving as Fulbright Scholars this academic year—J. Patrick Biddix, Joseph Bozell, Brad Collett, and Brendan McConville.
UT’s School of Music is hosting its first contemporary music festival October 22–24.
Coinciding with the City of Knoxville’s Italian week and Knoxville Opera’s Rossini Festival, the School of Music will host Italian soprano Manuela Formichella at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, in a guest performance of The Music of Tosti: Love Songs of Southern Italy in Alumni Memorial Building Performance Hall I, room 32. Formichella will also lead a master class with UT voice students the next day.
Amateur and professional composers alike are invited to submit original works for the Doc Severinsen International Composition Contest, vying for the $10,000 prize and the chance to premiere their music with world-renowned trumpeters. The competition is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Music, and the Southern Chapter of the College Music Society.
