UT Knoxville generated 4,993 donors and received more than $1.45 million on November 8 during its one-day Big Orange Give social-media-based giving campaign.

For the past four years, UT has drawn more than 4,000 donors and $1 million during the Big Orange Give, a five-day social-media-based giving campaign that increases funds for student scholarships and support for colleges and programs on campus.
UT wrapped up its annual Big Orange Give online giving campaign with alumni and friends donating $1,521,305 in one week. “For the fourth year in a row, our Volunteer family has exceeded our goals for the Big Orange Give campaign,” said Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek. “We are grateful to our alumni and friends for their enthusiasm for the campaign.”
This year’s Big Orange Give—a five-day social-media-based giving campaign for UT—kicks off today and runs through Friday. “This year we again want to raise more than a million dollars. If Vol Nation can raise $500,000, then First Tennessee Foundation has committed another $500,000 to help us get to the $1 million goal,” said Lauren Herbstritt, UT’s director of new media fundraising for annual giving.
More than forty-three thousand donors and philanthropic investors chose to support UT in fiscal year 2016.

Last year, nearly 1,600 donors contributed more than $765,000 to the Big Orange Give, UT’s five-day social-media-based giving campaign. This year’s Big Orange Give will run October 19–23 with a goal of $1 million.
UT Knoxville received nearly $235 million in private and corporate gifts last fiscal year, marking the most successful fundraising year in its history. In fiscal year 2015, which ended June 30, more than 39,000 donors boosted private support by 79 percent over the previous year.
Counting on the generosity of Volunteers, UT’s second annual Big Orange Give kicks off Homecoming Week and seeks to raise $500,000 in five days. The campaign has doubled its goal from last year’s successful effort, which involved more than 1,630 alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students pledging a total of $250,105 online.
UT’s first Big Orange Give—a 125-hour online giving campaign—far exceeded its goals for fundraising and expanding its network of Big Orange donors. Held during homecoming week, the campaign doubled the $125,000 goal, raising $250,105 from more than 1,640 donors from all fifty states and abroad.
