Some large-scale changes to the retirement plans administered by the State of Tennessee and offered to UT employees will take effect on July 1. The changes will not impact existing UT employees. But all faculty and staff involved in recruiting and hiring new employees should understand the changes.

All employees should have received their annual enrollment packet for the Medical and Dependent Flexible Benefits Plan and the new Transportation and Parking Flexible Benefits Plan for calendar year 2011. Plan packets were sent to faculty and staff campus mail addresses in the last two weeks. The Transportation and Parking Flexible Benefits Plan is a new benefit for regular UT employees.
This year’s group insurance annual/open enrollment period ends on Friday, Oct. 15. All completed insurance enrollment forms must be received in the Payroll Office at P115 Andy Holt Tower by 5 p.m. on that day. Online enrollment through the Edison Self Service website will continue until 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 15.
Representatives of the Optional Retirement Program providers will be on campus in the University Center beginning Tuesday, Oct. 12, through Thursday, Oct. 14. In addition to their ongoing service to university faculty and staff, they will be following up on the recent ORP transition to provide information, answer questions and assist employees.
