Ride Along with UTPD’s Tweet-Along on Thursday, February 27

The university community will have the chance to ride along with the university police on Thursday, February 27—virtually, that is. The UT Police Department is hosting a Tweet-Along on its official Twitter account to show the campus community a day in the life of its officers. Officers from the Community Relations Unit will ride along with shift officers from 8:00 a.m. Thursday until 8:00 a.m. Friday and will share on Twitter calls for service and officer-initiated activity that occur.

Students to Build Giant Box Fort, Raise National Debt Awareness February 21

A group of students will build a giant cardboard box fort on Friday, February 21, in an effort to educate their peers about how the $17 trillion national debt is affecting them. The transformation of at least 5,000 cardboard boxes into the Power T begins at 8:00 a.m. near the Pedestrian Mall. The fort will be six feet tall and about 100 feet long.

McClung Museum Hosts Free Stroller Tour December 16

The McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture will offer a free stroller tour celebrating winter and the holidays on Monday, December 16. Parents and caregivers with toddlers or babies are invited to meet in the museum’s lobby before taking a winter-themed tour of the museum’s decorative arts gallery, The Decorative Experience.

Campus Prepares for Eagles Concert November 13

The University of Tennessee is welcoming fans of the legendary rock group the Eagles, who will perform at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, in Thompson-Boling Arena. The sold-out concert will bring more than 16,000 guests to campus, affecting traffic and parking.

UT “Like Home” for David Brown

David Brown has seen a lot of changes at UT over the years, but one thing remains constant—his appreciation for the work he does here. Brown, who currently drives the UT Recycling truck, recently celebrated forty-five years with the university.

Professor to Present Annual “Magic of Chemistry” Show Tuesday

It’s National Chemistry Week, and at UT that means it’s time for Al Hazari’s annual Magic of Chemistry show. This year’s show—free and open to kids and adults—will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22, in Dabney-Buehler Hall, Room 555.

Ready for the World Cafe Offers Taste of France October 24

UT’s Ready for the World Cafe will venture to France on Thursday, October 24 in the UT Visitors Center on Neyland Drive. The menu includes escargots à la Bourguignonne, pate, a dessert course of pots de crème, and much more.

Business Students Host Fourth Annual Barefoot 5K on October 27

UT business students will host their fourth annual Barefoot Benefit 5K on Sunday, October 27 on Cherokee Boulevard in Sequoyah Hills. All proceeds from the event will go to Samaritan Place, a Knoxville-area shelter specializing in the care of low-income senior citizens.
