This summer, the Staff 9 lot west of Neyland Stadium will close for refurbishment.

The first phase of work starts early in the morning on Monday, May 12, with the closing of all of the parking lot except for Margaret’s Alley, located behind the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences Building.

During Phase 1, the lot will be leveled out, repaved, and restriped, and new lighting and trees will be placed. Also during this time, the southbound lane of Phillip Fulmer Way from Middle Drive to Peyton Manning Pass will be closed as workers build a new retaining wall and sidewalk. Pedestrians will need to walk on the stadium side of the street.

The walkway on the north side of the Staff 9 lot connecting Volunteer Boulevard and Phillip Fulmer Way also is closed during the construction. Pedestrians can access Phillip Fulmer Way and the University Center from Peyton Manning Pass or Lake Loudoun Boulevard to the south, or from Cumberland Avenue to the north.

Phase 2 starts in mid-July, and includes the repaving and restriping of the Margaret’s Alley section of the Staff 9 lot. Accessible parking will be available in this area.

During the closure, Staff 9 permit holders will be able to park in the G10 garage on Phillip Fulmer Way next to Thompson-Boling Arena. As soon as possible, a small number of spaces on the north end of the Staff 9 lot will be reopened to offset the loss of parking in Margaret’s Alley.

All work will be completed by mid-August.
