The UT Police Department this week honored its employees of the year. Included are comments from their nominations:
Noncommissioned Employee of the Year: Communications Officer Anastasia Morrisey
Friendly and helpful to the public and her fellow employees, Morrisey is known as an avid multitasker who can answer phones, run radios, and operate multiple programs at once. She also volunteers for numerous duties outside of those assigned by position, such as serving as the agency’s alternate terminal agency coordinator, computer aided dispatch administrator, trainer, and key control coordinator.
Officer of the Year: Jeffrey Quirin
A self-motivated hard worker who completes tasks with pride, Quirin is helpful and polite with the public, and takes extra time to follow up on criminal cases to attempt to bring resolution to those cases. He was recently recognized by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office as a DUI Enforcement Officer of the Year for his efforts in combating impaired driving.
Supervisor of the Year: Sergeant Ashley Stonerock
A dedicated leader who allows her officers to be proactive and results oriented, Stonerock was selected to lead an effort to combat a rash of thefts on campus. This effort led to a sharp decline in thefts and numerous arrests. She is a supervisor who listens to others and doesn’t hesitate to roll up her sleeves to help her officers rather than simply delegate.
Part-Time Employee of the Year: Campus Protection Specialist Delmar Brewer
Brewer has worked in this capacity since the inception of the campus protection specialist program. He is a loyal employee who provides excellent customer service and is always willing to help out and fill in, even on very short notice.
UTPD Partner of the Year: Brian Gard, UT Director of Emergency Management
This award is given to an individual or agency whose service or partnership contributes to providing professional services to the university.
Gard works often with UTPD to improve emergency response planning. He does so by helping with construction of emergency plans and by conducting monthly training with members of the department to test them on emergency response and use of existing plans and procedures. He is always willing to contribute in any way to the department.
