Did you know that one in three women and one in four men have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner? Domestic violence accounts for 15 percent of all violent crime. Domestic violence hotlines receive approximately 21,000 calls a day, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

You can help change the statistics and take a stand against domestic violence.

Wear purple on Thursday, October 19, and stop by an informational booth on Johnson-Ward Pedestrian Walkway between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to learn about the signs of intimate partner violence—among them extreme jealousy, possessiveness, verbal abuse, and extremely controlling behavior—and learn about ways to help those who are being abused.

Representatives from Human Resources, the Office of Equity and Diversity, the Office of Title IX, the UT Police Department, and the College of Veterinary Medicine will be handing out information and giveaway items.
