A change to the academic calendar is coming for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Starting that year—two years from now—classes will no longer be held on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to allow students a travel day for the holiday. The university will remain open that day, however.

To replace the lost class day, one class day will be added on to the end of the semester. That means fall classes will end on a Wednesday and Study Day will take place on Thursday.

Such changes, which are approved by the academic calendar committee and the Office of the Provost, must be made far in advance because the academic calendar is set several years out.

A task force is being convened to conduct a review to determine if this calendar change will necessitate changes to the Fall 2019 final exam schedule.

Remember: this change won’t be effective until Fall 2019.
