New signs around Knoxville direct commercial truck traffic away from the redesigned intersection of Cumberland Avenue and 17th Street.
To protect pedestrians at the intersection and avoid trucks having to make a tight turn, the signs direct trucks coming off of Interstate 40 to Dale Avenue, Western Avenue, Henley Street, and then Cumberland Avenue. For drivers who miss those signs, signs along 17th Street will direct them along White Avenue to 16th Street to reach westbound Cumberland Avenue.
University departments may wish to inform vendors about the detours when making deliveries to campus.
