While Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel has already been selected as the upcoming Life of the Mind book, your input is wanted to help choose the book for 2018–19 academic year.

First-Year Studies, which oversees Life of the Mind, is seeking to choose books sooner to allow more time for faculty and units to plan programming that ties in to the theme.

The Life of the Mind Committee has reviewed a number of books and arrived at a short list of four. The campus community is invited to provide input about these books.

The books are You Will Not Have My Hate by Antoine Leiris, The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue, and In the Country We Love by Diane Guerrero.

Visit the First-Year Studies website to read a summary of each book, learn more about the criteria for Life of the Mind books, and complete a survey with your feedback.
