UT Alum to Speak at Baker Center on April 13 about Cyber Security

UT alumnus Scott Partelow, now managing consultant for Enterprise Solutions at Sword and Shield Enterprise Security, will speak at UT’s Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy as a part of the Cybersecurity Brown Bag Lunch Series.

His lecture, “Cyber Hygiene for Individuals,” will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in the Toyota Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Partelow will talk about online security risks with a focus on how to reduce the chance of personal information being stolen.

In his current job, Partelow analyzes and audits customer security policies and procedures and overall IT security.

Partelow has held various certifications over the years such as Cisco Certified Network Associate, Certified Novell Engineer, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. He is skilled in local area network and wide area network technologies including routers, switches, networking protocols, servers, wireless solutions, and firewalls.

Partelow previously worked as the North American IT manager for a large plastics manufacturer, served as an IT consultant, and performed IT design and presales support for a systems integrator. He holds two bachelor’s degrees from UT—one in computer science and the other in mathematics.
