Honor Society Sponsors Book Drive for Sevier County Public Libraries

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is collecting books for the Sevier County Public Library System. The library provides literary resources to those living in the area, many of whom lost books and other reading materials in the wildfires of November 2016. The library will add the books to its own collection, donate them to area residents, or use them in the system’s used book sale fundraiser.

Anyone wanting to help can drop off books of any reading level to the Honors and Scholars Programs Office located at the Baker Center, Suite 130. Faculty and staff can send books via interdepartmental mail.

The collection will end April 26.

Phi Kappa Phi, which has been part of UT since the honor society’s inception in 1897, has more than 800 current and alumni members across all disciplines. At the national level, Phi Kappa Phi has adopted literacy as one of its main causes. Chapters across the nation join together to fight illiteracy by collecting books for various organizations.
