Knoxville-area faculty, staff, and retirees are invited to Picnic on the Plaza, to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12. The picnic will be held at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Hosted by Chancellor Beverly Davenport with support from President Joe DiPietro, UT Institute of Agriculture Chancellor Tim Cross, and UT Institute for Public Service Vice President Herb Byrd, Picnic on the Plaza is a special event to celebrate UT’s faculty and staff and thank them for their service to the university.

Join Chancellor Davenport and special guests for a barbecue picnic with music, games, and giveaways. RecSports will have games such as giant checkers, Connect Four, horseshoes, and cornhole set up for guests to enjoy and will also provide footballs and hula hoops.

Volunteer Dining will serve pulled pork with buns, hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, cookies, brownies, and beverages. Vegetarian choices include veggie burgers, black-eyed pea and kale salad, and vegetarian baked beans.

Invitations will be sent via email, but attendees do not need to RSVP.

For transportation to the picnic from campus locations not within walking distance, the T’s Hill Route and Neyland Express will be running every five to seven minutes. The Hill Route serves locations on Circle Drive, Cumberland Avenue, Andy Holt Avenue, and Volunteer Boulevard, while the Neyland Express serves River Drive, Service Drive, Chapman Drive, Neyland Drive, and the bus plaza at Neyland Stadium Gate 21.
