WBIR-TVInside a North Knoxville sanctuary people from different backgrounds came together to say a prayer for refugees and immigrants across the world after President Trump’s executive order barring refugees and people from seven Middle Eastern countries.

WBIR-TV Channel 10 was present to report on the show of support at St. James Episcopal Church. De Ann Pendry, UT senior lecturer in the Department of Anthropology, weighed in on the beneficial impact that children of immigrants has on the US economy.

“There are 750,000 young people that are now able to go to work go to college. They’re all contributing to the economy,” said Pendry.

For many, the belief in the American dream is steadfast, despite other recent fears.
