Last fall, OIT began rolling out Instructure Canvas to replace Blackboard Learn as the campus’s learning management system. This semester, more than 900 instructors are using Canvas for more than 1,600 course sections. Blackboard Learn will be retired on May 31.
Canvas provides an updated user interface, ePortfolios, easy media and content management via drag and drop, an enhanced mobile experience, attendance tracking, and robust learning analytics to support instructors and students.
You can get ready for Canvas in four ways:
- Register online to attend an OIT Course Delivery Workshop.
- Review online tutorials with topic-specific resources or a full Canvas workshop.
- Contact the OIT HelpDesk to schedule one-on-one and small group help. Visit the Commons North on the second floor of Hodges Library; call 865-974-9900; or submit a form online.
- OIT is offering weekly Virtual Camp Canvas from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; and 1–4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays via Zoom.
