Register for Grad, Postdoc Professional Development

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows can now register for UT CIRTL spring professional development opportunities.

UT CIRTL is the university’s partnership with a national network of research universities called the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning. Through network exchanges, online courses, and other resources, UT CIRTL provides opportunities for graduate students to improve their teaching skills and boost their ability to find future jobs in academia.

Three seminars are available:

The Associate Level offers an introduction to the core learning goals of CIRTL: teaching as research, evidence-based learning practices, learning communities, and learning through diversity. The seminar will be from 9 to 11 a.m. or 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays or from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays, starting the week of January 23 and ending the week of February 20. Register at UTCIRTLASSOCIATE2017S.

The Practitioner Level provides participants an opportunity to engage the core learning goals at a higher level as well as creating plans to implement these and other innovative teaching practices. Participants will develop a teaching as research proposal. The seminar will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. or 2 to 4 p.m. on Mondays or from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting the week of January 23 and end the week of March 20. Register at UTCIRTLPRACTITIONER2017S.

The Scholar Level provides support for participants who wish to implement a teaching as research project in their course. Participants design and complete an IRB-approved study about a teaching and learning practice in some educational environment. Participants also engage in a learning community with others completing similar projects. Days and times of the seminar haven’t been set yet. Register at UTCIRTLSCHOLAR2017S.
