University administration is aware of an act of vandalism that occurred at the Pride Center over the weekend.

The incident was reported to the Bias Education and Response Team on Saturday evening, and a report was filed with the UT Police Department yesterday afternoon. This is the second act of vandalism involving a pride flag to occur this semester.

Acts of bias toward anyone, especially toward members of marginalized or underrepresented groups of students, staff, or faculty, are inconsistent with our campus’ principles of civility and community. Members of our LGBT+ community deserve to be treated with respect.

UTPD is investigating this incident. Anyone with information should contact them at 865-974-3114 or utpolice@utk.edu.

If you are ever threatened or in danger, call 911. If you ever feel harassed, intimidated, or discriminated against, please report the incident to the Bias Education and Response Team.
