SEC Awards UT Faculty Travel Funds

Nine UT professors have received funding for travel to other Southeastern Conference universities for this academic year. Now in its fifth year, the grant program provides support for selected faculty to collaborate with colleagues at other SEC institutions.

More than 100 faculty members from all 14 SEC universities will receive funds this academic year.  The program encourages collaboration between member institutions to exchange ideas, develop grant proposals, conduct research, and deliver lectures or performances.

“The SEC Faculty Travel Program continues to garner significant interest from faculty members across the conference, and we are encouraged by how our universities have identified a range of individuals to participate,” said Torie Johnson, executive director of the SEC’s academic initiative, known as SECU. “This program allows us to facilitate collaboration that stretches from the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields to include the arts and community engagement.”

UT faculty receiving grant funds are:

  • Shelley Binder, associate professor of music
  • Stuart Brotman, Howard Distinguished Endowed Professor of Media Management and Law
  • Jerzy Dydak, professor of math
  • Patrick Grzanka, assistant professor of psychology
  • Katie Johnson, assistant professor of music
  • Alexander Lapins, assistant professor of music
