The Pride Center is open and students are encouraged to continue to use the center for support and resources throughout the academic year. The center serves as a community space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual students and their allies and anyone else seeking more information about LGBTQQIA topics and issues.

The Pride Ambassadors are hosting the Rainbow Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 18, at the Pride Center courtyard between Hess Hall and Hodges Library, 1616 Melrose Avenue. The campus community is invited to attend to meet and mingle and learn about the center.

Pride Center hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays. The center will be staffed by federal work-study students.

If you are interested in serving as a Pride Center student assistant, apply for a position through Hire-A-Vol.

The center is supported by the Office of the Dean of Students within the Division of Student Life. Danny Glassmann, associate dean of students, is serving as the administrative liaison to the center.

He will continue his current duties within the Office of the Dean of Students but will also work with the Pride Center to ensure the center is adequately staffed, administer the center’s donations budget, and oversee the facility. He also plans to offer weekly office hours at the center.

Before arriving at UT, Glassmann served as the assistant dean of students and director of residence life at Oglethorpe University. He received his doctorate in counseling and student personnel services from The University of Georgia. His dissertation focused on physical and virtual safe spaces as experienced by lesbian, gay, and bisexual college students. His professional background includes residence life, student conduct, student activities, Greek affairs, orientation, leadership development, and multicultural and LGBTQQIA programs and services.
