Knoxville News SentinelThe Knoxville News Sentinel recently interviewed UT’s Colleen Jonsson who this summer is overseeing a group of undergraduate students from across the country who are using mathematical modeling to study how hantavirus spreads.

The students are in the competitive eight-week Summer Research Experience hosted by the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis, or NIMBioS, which is based at UT.

“It’s second only to Ebola in terms of mortality,”  Jonsson said of the hantavirus. She is Beaman Distinguished Professor of Microbiology and director NIMBioS. Read the full story online.
