UT is one of the “best and most interesting” schools in the 2017 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges, which reviews higher education institutions in the United States, Canada, and Britain. The guide was released today.
UT is one of more than 300 universities to be included in the guide, which advises prospective students about academics, campus setting, housing, financial aid, and extracurricular activities.
UT is recognized for its strong academic programs in business, architecture, accounting, engineering, psychology and communications. The guide also notes UT’s partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the attractiveness of its Haslam Scholars and Chancellor’s Honors programs for the top students in Tennessee and the US.
The guide notes that “as the only major public university in Tennessee, UT comes close to being all things to all students,” with fairly extensive general education requirements that cross all academic disciplines.
The breadth of campus construction projects and wide array of architectural styles at UT also helped it qualify as among the best and most interesting schools, with the guide noting the first phase of the Student Union and continuing work on residence halls, classroom facilities, and pedestrian-friendly transformations of much of campus.
