Psychology Today, Yahoo!, Business Insider Highlight UT Relationship Study

Being worried about the state of your relationship can actually make it worse.

That was the finding from UT professor Deborah Welsh and student Jerika Norona, both from the Department of Psychology.

Psychology Today highlighted the work, noting that:

Not only does an individual’s fear of rejection create undue stress for his or her partner, it also makes that person constantly feel that the relationship isn’t as good as it could be.

The report went on to explain that such a relationship can fall apart because it requires the other partner to be even more accommodating and sensitive and can make that person feel like the other is needy.

Welsh and Norona interviewed more than 200 UT students for the project on a range of relationship topics.
