News Sentinel Features Inwood Letter about Diversity Cuts

Knoxville News SentinelJosh Inwood, associate professor of geography and Africana Studies, wrote a letter to the Knoxville News Sentinel about recent diversity cuts on the state level that have negatively impacted UT.

“Study after study demonstrates that organizations and businesses that embrace diversity are more nimble, more competitive and are able to attract the kind of high-end talent that is necessary to raise the standard of living for all Tennesseans,” he wrote. “But for a lot of politicians it is easier to try to win the next election, or position oneself for the next elected office, or to follow the political winds than do the right thing. Too bad for UT, too bad for Knoxville and too bad for the state.” Read the letter online.
