MSN quoted history professor Dan Feller in a story examining whether Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has what it takes to be and act “presidential.” The story takes a look at several presidents and the persona they presented in public versus in real life.

Feller noted that Andrew Jackson was “very self-consciously a gentleman. He had acquired the manners of a gentleman, he had acquired the tastes of a gentleman. That was part of what it meant to be making it in America.” Read the story online.

Feller is director of the Papers of Andrew Jackson at UT.
