Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville is the latest hospital to partner with the College of Nursing to provide the Precious Prints Project to grieving families.
The student-led project provides silver fingerprint charms to families who have experienced the loss of their child. Since its creation in 2011, the project has supported more than 300 families.
“We are pleased to join with Fort Sanders Regional to allow even more grieving families to have this special remembrance of their child,” said Lynne Miller, nursing instructor and director of the Precious Prints project.
On April 12, student nurses visited the Fort Sanders labor and delivery unit to educate the staff about the overall project goals and how to obtain a fingerprint.
Each fingerprint is then crafted into a beautiful charm as a lasting memory for the parents.
Fort Sanders joins East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, the UT Medical Center, and Parkwest Hospital as partners.
