Michael Guidry, UT professor of physics and astronomy, will present a lecture on gravitational waves from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Spirit and Truth Fellowship of Knoxville’s (STFK) Science Café at Ijams Nature Center, 2915 Island Home Avenue.

Guidry’s discussion will explore Einstein’s prediction of the existence of gravitational waves. He will discuss how scientists detected gravitational waves on Earth and confirmed Einstein’s prediction last year.

Children ages 5–12 are invited to an age-appropriate lesson in the Kid’s Café, in the room adjoining the Science Café. The Kid’s Café lesson will provide games and activities that also focus on gravitational waves.

RSVP by calling Ijams Nature Center at 865-577-4717, extension 110, or by sending an e-mail to rsvp@knoxsciencecafe.org. The Science Café and Kids Café are free and open to the public.
