As cases of Zika virus infections continue to be reported in the United States, campus community members can turn to an online campus resource for information about the virus, signs and symptoms, and prevention.

The Zika virus is spread to people through the bite of an infected mosquito. It can also spread when an infected person is bitten by a mosquito that goes on to bite others. Protect yourself by covering exposed skin and using insect repellents containing DEET. The virus also can be transmitted by an infected person through sexual contact. However, sexual transmission of the virus may be prevented by using latex condoms when sexually active.
