The position of executive director of the UT Space Institute has been reopened, and the recruiting process is now underway.

A search conducted last fall did not result in filling the post.

Outgoing director Buddy Moore, who has served as director since 2010, will retire when the search is completed.

A new committee has been appointed and will be led by College of Engineering Dean Wayne Davis.

A list of search committee members can be seen here. The committee plans on reviewing submissions and interviewing potential candidates in late May.

The executive director position reports directly to Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek.

Candidates need to be willing to carry on and expand the vision of the institute, engage with its stakeholders such as alumni and employees, and be able to identify areas of growth.

Other core qualifications include a doctoral degree, experience leading other faculty in some capacity, proven communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to travel as needed. Experience working with governmental and defense agencies is preferred.

A full list of duties and responsibilities can be found here.
