Muldowny_In MemoriamJohn Muldowny, a longtime faculty member in the Department of History, passed away on January 27. He was 84.

Muldowny came to UT in 1960, after graduating from Yale University. He served as associate head and interim head of the department during a time of rapid change in the discipline, the department, and the university. In 1990, he moved to full-time administration, working for a decade as an associate dean in charge of summer school, evening school, and other special programs. He retired in 2001.

Muldowny survived by his wife Elaine Breslaw; sister Sheila Stone; sons Steven Muldowny and David Muldowny; stepson Karl Breslaw, several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Muldowny will be held at a later date.
