Julie_Reed_2016Julie Reed‘s project to help recover the lost stories of Cherokee people who lived in East Tennessee continues to garner media attention. The stories will eventually be translated into the Cherokee language and become children’s books. Several regional outlets shared stories with their readers about Reed’s effort. They include the Knoxville News Sentinel, Chattanooga Times Free Press, and Styrk.

Reed is a Cherokee historian and UT assistant professor of history.
