UT Named Best College Value for 2016 by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance

UT has been named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance list of Top 100 Best College Values for 2016.

UT is ranked seventy-first on the list of public colleges and universities, which was released this week.

Kiplinger’s chooses the top 300 schools from 1,200 public and private colleges and universities based on measures of academic quality and affordability. The metrics include average debt upon graduation and amount of need-based and merit-based aid, SAT or ACT average scores, selectivity, student-faculty ratios, and four-year graduation rates.

Over the past decade, UT has significantly increased its offering of need-based scholarships to help Tennessee students earn their degrees and minimize debt. About 98 percent of incoming in-state freshmen qualify for the state’s lottery-funded HOPE scholarship.

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has ranked colleges and universities since 1998. The data is now used in its Find the Best College for You website designed for potential students and their parents.
