The Wall Street Journal and the News Sentinel featured Joe Carcello and his testimony during a meeting of the Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee, a committee within the US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.

The Wall Street Journal article says Carcello talked about “the SEC’s greater use of its in-house judges was a result of actions taken by Congress, including the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial reform that gave the agency greater powers to use the forum. Congress decided the SEC ‘needed greater enforcement tools’ following the financial crisis, he said, questioning what had changed since then that would justify taking those tools away.”

Carcello holds many appointments within UT’s Haslam College of Business—department head for accounting and information management, EY and Business Alumni Professor, and cofounder and executive director of the C. Warren Neel Corporate Governance Center.
