Your orange clothing will work double duty this month as campus organizations host several Halloween-themed events. Mark your calendar for these activities and events:

Buggy Buffet, 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 29, in Hollingsworth Auditorium in Ellington Plant Sciences. The event, free and open to the public, is hosted by students in the course in conjunction with the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology. Tentative menu offerings include an appetizer of ants-on-a-log (celery with pimento cheese topped with ants), followed by an entrée of Special K-ricket casserole, waxworm wontons and mealworm meatballs. The meal will conclude with a dessert of chocolate chirp cookies and assorted chocolate covered insects. A silent auction will be held, and insect-themed items and artwork will be available to purchase.

Day of the Dead celebration, noon–5:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, on Hodges Library first floor. Visitors can vote for their favorite student-created ofrenda (altar honoring the deceased). E-mail rtoledo@utk.edu for more information.

Pumpkin Drop 2015, 3:30–5:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, Humanities and Social Sciences Building lawn (on the side closest to Circle Park). The event will feature science demos starting at 3:30 p.m. and pumpkins will start falling at 4:30 p.m. Hosted by UT’s Society of Physics Students.

Second Annual Halloween Extravaganza hosted by the UT Baseball Team, 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 30, in Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Full-costume team scrimmage and trick-or-treating with the Vols. Free admission.

HalloQueen Drag Show, 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, October 30. A student-run drag show featuring the talents of the UT community, sponsored by VolOUT. Cost is $2. For more info, e-mail volout@utk.edu.

International House Halloween Bash, 8:00–10:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, at the International House. Dress up for a costume contest and enjoy food, music, and a photo booth. For more info, call 974-4453.

Vol Night Long Vol-O-Ween, 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, October 30, in Presidential Courtyard. Play glow-in-the-dark casino games, carnival games, and arcade games with free pizza, a live DJ, and a make-your-own-slime station. For more info, call 974-5455 or visit the event page on Facebook.

Rocky Horror Picture Show, 11:30 p.m. Friday, October 30, in HPER. Grab your friends and enjoy this free showing of the interactive classic film. For more info, call 974-5455.

Reese Hall Fright Night, 8:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m. Thursday and Friday, October 22 and 23, in the basement of Reese Hall. This year’s Reese Hall haunted house is themed “Face Your Fears.” Cost is $3 a person or $5 a couple, cash only. For more info, call 974-2562.

Howl-O-Ween, 1:00–5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25, at UT Gardens. The Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo caters to dogs and dog lovers. Awards will be presented in judged categories for scariest, funniest, prettiest, and best pop culture/character costumes. The event includes an expo of educational booths, pet businesses, and rescue groups. Food trucks will be on hand for people wanting to purchase food. Pantry for Feeding Pets, an organization that helps local pets and pet owners by providing food and treats, will be accepting donations of dog and cat food and treats. Preregistration cost is $8 for one dog or $13 for two or more dogs. Day-of registration is $10 for one dog or $15 for two or more dogs. Register for the Pooch Parade online. Hypnotist chrisjones, 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, at Cox Auditorium in the Alumni Memorial Building. Seen on America’s Got Talent, chrisjones will entertain with his hypnosis show, a Central Program Council event. For more info, call 974-5455.
