Brian Lee, design partner with the international architecture firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and a lead designer of the Additive Manufacturing and Integrated Energy system, will present “Work—Innovation in Practice” as part of the College of Architecture and Design‘s Church Lecture Series.
The lecture is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, at the McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture.
As a designer, Lee uses a building’s aesthetics and geological structural features to provide meaning to those who live and work there. His award-winning designs include the China World Trade Center in Beijing and the University of California San Diego Telemedicine Education Building.
Lee’s lecture, which is free and open to the public, will reflect on a practice and body of work that value innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration to produce buildings and environments that address context, tectonics, and shared meaning.
The following day, October 21, Lee will join other experts from SOM, UT, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in a panel discussion about the Additive Manufacturing and Integrated Energy system. The discussion will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the McClung Museum.
Lee’s lecture on October 20 will be streamed live and offers participants continuing education units.
