The public is invited to attend the Billie Grace Goodrich Distinguished Lecture featuring Anthony S. Bryk, president of the Carnegie Foundation, at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 at the Crowne Plaza, 401 Summit Hill Drive.
His lecture, “Learning to Improve: How America’s Schools Can Get Better at Getting Better,” will explore methods schools can utilize in order to improve their educational standards.
Bryk is the ninth president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, where he is leading work on transforming educational research and development, which involves working closely with researchers and practitioners to improve teaching and learning. In addition to being recognized as one of America’s most noted educational researchers, he was appointed by President Barack Obama to the National Board for Education Sciences in 2010.
The Billie Grace Goodrich Distinguished Lecture Series is funded by a gift from Mr. Goodrich honoring his wife. The lectures are intended to contribute to the intellectual life of the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, and to provide the public with new and provocative ideas and with stimulating thought about possible solutions to educational problems in the United States.
