UT and Southeast University in Nanjing, China, are hosting an English Immersion Summer Camp during the first two weeks of July 2016. This is a unique opportunity for faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students to work as teachers and classroom assistants in China.

Teach English and American culture to Chinese university students of Southeast University in beautiful Nanjing China. Southeast is UT’s Confucius institute partner and one of UT’s strongest international partners in China. The camp began in summer 2015 as a pilot program and will continue into a second year, with plans to take a larger group from UT.

Faculty, staff, and graduate students: As teachers, you will lecture on topics of American culture and assist English-speaking Chinese university students in conversational and presentation skills, in an activity-based atmosphere of summer camp.

Undergraduate volunteers: As classroom assistants, you will interact with Southeast’s students in activities, lectures, conversation practice, social activities, and assist classroom teachers. Training and orientation will take place during the spring semester.

All participants are provided with free housing, on-campus dining, and a stipend. Teachers will receive additional teaching pay.

Information sessions will be held at 11:45–1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, and 4:30–5:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, in the I-House Community Room.
