Alyxandria Wszolek, a senior in nuclear engineering at UT, was recently featured as a guest writer on the Nuclear Energy Institute’s blog ‘Nuclear Notes.

Wszolek wrote about the diverse options for energy in the United States, and the critical role nuclear power plays in that system.

“Right now, our country relies heavily on fossil fuels, but when you look at the facts, nuclear is a lot more efficient,” Wszolek wrote. “One uranium fuel pellet creates as much energy as one ton of coal or 17,000 cubic feet of natural gas.”

Wszolek also used the forum to address the growing energy demands of the country, and spoke about how nuclear power was a reliable emission-free option.
