UT welcomes fans to campus Saturday for the football game against Western Carolina University.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. EDT for the Volunteers’ game against the Catamounts. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. ESPNU will televise the game.

The UT Police Department reminds fans that alcoholic beverages, cans, bottles, and coolers are prohibited in Neyland Stadium. Anyone attempting to enter the stadium under the influence of alcohol will be subject to ejection or arrest.

Fans are encouraged to follow @UTGameday on Twitter or visit utsports.com/gameday/football for the latest updates on traffic, weather, gate information, and game day events.

Parking and Traffic

Due to construction and road closures in the campus area, fans are encouraged to arrive early and to plan ahead to determine the best routes of travel and parking.

Ongoing work on the Cumberland Avenue Corridor project has reduced traffic to one lane in each direction between Alcoa Highway and 22nd Street. There are also no left turns allowed off Cumberland Avenue. This may result in significant traffic slowdowns both before and after the game. UT and the city of Knoxville have recommended specific routes to campus. View or download a map of the routes.

Only fans with permits can park on campus. UT encourages fans to use Knoxville Area Transit shuttle buses for a round trip to Neyland Stadium from the Old City; the Knoxville Civic Coliseum; Krutch Park, near Market Square in downtown Knoxville; or Farragut High School.

Downtown Knoxville has several city garages and private lots. To plan where to park, visit Knox Parking and Park Downtown Knoxville.

Phillip Fulmer Way will close to through traffic from Middle Drive to Tee Martin Drive three hours before kickoff.

Thirty minutes before kickoff, the remainder of Phillip Fulmer Way as well as Peyton Manning Pass, Middle and Lower Drives, and Estabrook Drive, will close to vehicles.

The latest information on campus construction can be found at the Cone Zone website.

Game Day Activities

This Saturday, the Pride of the Southland Band returns to its traditional path to Neyland Stadium while highlighting some of the newest and most scenic spots on campus. The band will begin marching at 5:15 p.m. from the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center on Volunteer Boulevard, passing the Volunteer Statue shining brightly from Torchbearer Plaza.

However, instead of turning right onto Peyton Manning Pass, the band will continue straight to the Haslam Business Building, then make a right turn onto the new pedestrian bridge connecting Volunteer Boulevard to the Hill. The band will then circle down the slope to Phillip Fulmer Way, perform a musical salute to the Hill, and enter the stadium from the north.

High school marching bands from Roane County High School and William Blount High School will follow the Pride of the Southland Band to the stadium.

Saturday also is Spirit Day, with hundreds of youth cheerleaders proceeding from Thompson-Boling Arena to the stadium at 6:15 p.m. and joining the Volunteers cheerleading squad on the field for a pregame routine.

The traditional Vol Walk will start at 4:45 p.m. on Volunteer Boulevard near Circle Park, as the members of the football team proceed down Volunteer Boulevard and then continue down Peyton Manning Pass to the stadium.

The Toyota Volunteer Village offers pregame festivities for fans of all ages beginning at 3:30 p.m. Located in the Humanities Plaza, Toyota Volunteer Village features pregame appearances from Smokey, Junior Smokey, cheerleaders, and UT’s dance team.

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. To help promote the fight against childhood cancer, UT players and coaches will take the field wearing Curing Kids Cancer wristbands. Players also will wear helmet stickers, while their coaches will wear gold whistles and lanyards.
