Have you ever studied for hours and still felt like you didn’t know the material? Have you expected to get a good grade on a test and been disappointed? Do you wonder where you time goes?

Academic Coaches at The Student Success Center on the third floor of Greve Hall can help you with these questions.

Academic Coaches, trained staff who meet with you one-on-one, can help you study smarter by developing skills in time management, goal setting, and learning styles and strategies.  Meeting with a coach is comfortable, low-maintenance, and low-drama; it’s a chance for you to talk about your own experience at UT both in and out of the classroom.  They listen to you and take you seriously.

SSC data show that students who meet with an Academic Coach regularly achieve higher academic success, so come early and come often!

Timely meetings with a coach are a great way to start your semester on the right track. Come now to review your course load and devise strategies to attack your work, follow that with a mid-semester visit once you’ve settled into your classes and are aware of long term assignments, and finally, come near the end of the semester to sharpen your focus on your remaining work.

Seeing a coach can also be helpful whenever you feel like you’re not doing well academically, feel undue academic pressure, or just want to enhance the learning and academic management skills you already have.

The SSC also offers other forms of academic assistance. The center offers supplemental instruction, free, out of class study sessions, for many of the courses you’re taking.  There’s also free tutoring, one-on-one sessions with certified tutors.

Check out the website for more great information about the SSC, and remember, come early and come often!
