Derek Alderman, head of the Department of Geography, recently published a photo essay examining the intense devotion of Elvis fans and ways they express it through pilgrimage and other acts. The piece, “Graceland Graffiti: Elvis Fans as Place-Makers and Memory Agents,” was published in Sacred Matters magazine. The publication coincided with Elvis Week, which was held in Memphis from August 8 to 16.
