Social Work Degree Guide has ranked the College of Social Work’s online master’s program in social work second in the country. The guide serves as the expert online source on social work careers and education resources.
The guide looks at a number of criteria to rank top programs, including tuition ranges for credit hours, scheduling flexibility, geographic limitations, coursework offered online, and an advanced standing option to help those with bachelor’s degrees in social work move more quickly through the program.
“We’re thrilled with the ranking as well as the uptick in students interested in our online master’s program,” said Karen Sowers, dean of the College of Social Work. “Online programs allow social work professionals incredible flexibility to further their education at their own pace.”
UT offers both full-time and part-time fully online master’s degree programs. Students are offered the opportunity to interact with peers in real time although no campus visits are required.
Students in the traditional program complete 1,024 hours of field experience as part of the degree requirements, while advanced standing students need to complete 672 hours. Students can also earn program certificates in gerontology, school social work licensure, trauma, and veterinary social work.
To date, more than 311 students have successfully completed UT’s online social work master’s degree program.
All programs in the 2015 Top Online Masters in Social Work rankings are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, the only organization that provides accreditation for master’s programs in social work.
