A production of Mozart’s opera Die Zauberflote, about a quest for love and adventure, will run from Friday, April 10, to Sunday, April 12.

The UT Opera Theatre will present The Magic Flute at the historic Bijou Theatre, 803 Gay Street.

“The allegorical journey of a hero into adulthood, with its emphasis on strength and wisdom, is inherently appealing,” said UT Opera Director James Marvel. “But ultimately what makes this piece so successful is that it shows all that is best in mankind.”

The Magic Flute will be directed by Marvel and conducted by Kevin Class, associate professor of music.

Show times are 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 10; 2:30 and 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 12.

Tickets are $5 for students, $15 for seniors and $20 for adults and the general public.

They may be purchased at the Tennessee Theatre box office, by phone at 865-684-1200 ext. 2 or 800-745-3000, or online.
