As you prepare for the 2015-2016 academic year, we want to share information about changes to Volunteer Dining options that will begin this fall semester.

Returning students who would like to purchase a meal plan can now select from nine available plans, which provide more dining options than in previous years.

Returning students living in residence halls will not be required to purchase a residence-hall-based meal plan as had been previously required.

All returning undergraduate students enrolled in 6 or more credit hours who do not purchase a meal plan by July 15 will be enrolled in our new Flex Plan. This $300 plan will be charged to participating students’ accounts in the fall and spring semesters. Flex Plan dollars, which students will access through an account on their VolCard, can be used at all Volunteer Dining locations on campus. Students may begin using their Flex Plan dollars on August 11.

For more information about the Flex Plan, click here.

If a returning student purchases any meal plan after July 15, the $300 will be applied as credit toward the cost of the meal plan.

At the end of each semester, students can request a refund or one of the other flexible options, including rolling over their remaining funds into their VolCard account. Students will then be able to use the VolCard account at participating Cumberland Avenue merchants, any campus dining location including POD Markets and convenience stores, or VolShop locations to pay for books, supplies, or apparel.

Students can sign up for meal plans and manage their plan options on the UT Dining website.

Questions should be directed to 865-974-4111 or utdining@utk.edu.

Volunteer Dining meal plans can now be used at the more than forty-two dining locations across campus. In addition, the first phase of the Student Union, scheduled to open this summer, will include a combination of new and returning dining locations as well as more indoor seating and new patio seating areas.
