Have you ever had an idea you thought might have commercial potential? If so, where do you start? What resources are available at UT to help?

The UT Research Foundation (UTRF) provides knowledge and resources to help protect your intellectual property and take it to market.

To learn more, please join us for a pair of 90-minute seminars called ‘Patent Essentials’ on March 27 to help dive into some important questions about intellectual property and how you and the university can benefit from commercialization efforts.

UTRF will host patent attorneys from the firm of Kenyon and Kenyon from 9:00-11:30 a.m. in the Business Incubator at 2450 E.J. Chapman Drive and 1:30-3:00 p.m. in the Min Kao Auditorium, Room 622, at 1520 Middle Drive to address topics including what patents are and what they cover; who can apply for patents; types of patents; how patents differ from trademarks, servicemarks, and copyrights; and how the patent process works and how long it takes.

This event is being held as part of UTRF’s Tech Talks, a series designed to share information of interest with UT’s research community. Presentations over the next year will range from broad overviews to more technical topics, providing useful information and offering support to UT’s researcher community.
