Notable Architectural Photographer to Present as General Shale Lecturer

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHelene Binet, one of the world’s leading architectural photographers, will be the General Shale Lecturer for the College of Architecture and Design Robert B. Church III Memorial Lecture Series.

Binet will present “Composing Space 24 Bartholomew Villas” at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9, in McCarty Auditorium of the Art and Architecture Building, 1715 Volunteer Boulevard. The event, sponsored by General Shale Brick, is free and open to the public. A reception will precede the event.

Recently, Binet has directed her attention to photography of landscape architecture.

Binet’s work is published in a range of books and has been shown in national and international exhibitions. She has received numerous awards, including the 2015 Julius Shulman Institute Excellence in Photography Award.

The Robert B. Church III Memorial Lecture Series addresses history, theory, and practice in the design disciplines today. It brings nationally and internationally prominent practitioners and scholars of the built environment and design arts.

The General Shale Lecture was established in the early 1990s. It seeks to further the public’s awareness and appreciation of architecture and design.
