East Tennessee History Day Being Held On Campus

About 370 middle and high school students will be on campus Friday, March 6, to test their historical IQ during the annual East Tennessee History Day.

The event, hosted by UT’s History Department and the East Tennessee Historical Society, begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs through 2:00 p.m., when the awards ceremony will be held. Activities will be in the Carolyn P. Brown University Center ballroom and are open to the public.

The fourteenth annual East Tennessee History Day Competition will feature students’ research, knowledge, and creativity in history-themed projects, including museum-style exhibits, papers, web sites, documentaries, and live performances. This year’s theme is “Leadership and Legacy in History.”

District winners will move on to Tennessee History Day in Nashville on April 11. State winners will then compete in National History Day competition in June at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
