University Housing to Host 5K and Fun Run

University Housing will host its first Fainting Goat 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, March 7.

Check-in is at 8:00 a.m. in Circle Park, 1327 Circle Park Drive, and the race begins at 9:00 a.m. The event is open to the public.

Registration is $20.

The course begins in Circle Park, heading up Johnson-Ward Pedestrian Walkway and Andy Holt Avenue, looping around the UT Institute of Agriculture campus, and coming back behind Lindsey Nelson Stadium before taking Pat Head Summitt Street back to Volunteer Boulevard and the finish line in Circle Park.

Professional staff, resident assistants, and various residence hall associations are collaborating on the race, which celebrates one of the state’s most fascinating and unique animals, the Tennessee fainting goat.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Heifer International, an organization whose mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the earth.

“Our planning committee chose to host this event to raise money for Heifer International because we were inspired by their mission,” said Jennifer Wilson, director of Apartment Residence Hall. “We have hosted smaller fundraisers to raise money for the organization over the last few years, but we wanted to host a larger event to support its cause.”
