Personal computing icon and UT alumnus and current professor Mark Dean was the subject of a recent profile by Engadget.

Dean, the John Fisher distinguished professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was a pioneer in IBM’s PC push, having secured three of their first PC-related patents.

The first African-American IBM Fellow, Dean provided perspective to the magazine on diversity in the workplace and fighting racism, in addition to talking about the future of computing.

He also gave pointers, both personal and professional, to up-and-coming engineers.
